Arctic Discoveries
The Alaska Zoo’s Arctic Discoveries program series takes class-style learning to a wild new level! A zoo educator will guide your students or participants through science-based topics with interactive presentations and engaging live animal encounters. Choose from a variety of topics below that can be tailored to fit your group’s needs.
Harbor Seals Dive! Find out how harbor seals thrive in cold, sub-Arctic waters featuring zoo harbor seals.
Otterly Awesome. Slide into the exciting life history of an otter family. Program features zoo river otters.
Polar Bears 101. Get personal with the world’s largest land predator. Program features the zoo’s polar bear.
Polar Bears in a Changing Climate. Get perspective on how climate change affects one of our biggest, yet most vulnerable species. Program features the zoo’s polar bear.
Snow Cat Conservation. Big cats are facing big problems but zoos are stepping up to help save endangered species. Program features your choice of the zoo’s Amur tigers, snow leopards or Canadian lynx.
Wild Wolverines. These misunderstood mustelids will surprise you with their advanced Arctic adaptations. Program features zoo wolverines.
We use custom videoconferencing equipment on a mobile cart as well as mobile devices to broadcast from the zoo grounds and classroom to groups across Alaska and around the world - any location with an internet connection!

All programs listed below are virtual.
Lifelong Learners EDventure - senior groups only, $175/program
Learning EDventure - schools, libraries, nonprofit learning centers, scouts, homeschools, $180/program for AK residents, $200/program outside of AK. Fees are based on a maximum of two classrooms attending. Additional classrooms added will be at a rate of $50 per classroom. Maximum of 4 classrooms.
Business EDventure - corporations and for-profit business, $300/program

Time Zone Recommendations
We rely on natural light in our habitats to give you the best experience possible. While daylight in the summer is plentiful, from November 1 through February 1 the earliest program booking time at animal exhibits will be 10 AM Alaska Time. Alaska observes Daylight Savings Time.
